Charlie Parr – Barnswallow (2013)

chBarnswallow is country blues musician Charlie Parr’s eleventh full-length release. Parr shines again both as a performer and songwriter on eight originals which are sandwiched between traditional folk songs taught by local blues musicians Dave “Snaker” Ray and “Spider” John Koerner of Koerner, Ray & Glover. The Minnesota blues and folk scene permeates the album, informing the content, musicians (including Mikkel Beckmen on washboard and percussion; Dave Hundreiser on harmonica, and resonator mandolin; and wife Emily Parr on backing vocals), and studio as this was recorded live to tape at The Winona Arts Center.
