Doghouse Flowers formed over the winter/late spring of 2012 when New Orleanian ex-pat, Justin Reuther, moved to the snowy cold environs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Reuther’s original songs run the gamut of honky tonk country to southern rock style anthems. Backed by a veteran rhythm section the music is equally informed by country music greats like George Jones, and Waylon Jennings, 60s and 70s country rockers like the Byrds, The Burritos and Poco as well as modern alt country groups like Drive By Truckers, Son Volt and the Old 97s. A unique pop sensibility runs through these songs joined with a rock solid backbeat, and tasty guitar work. Milwaukee music scene mainstays Chrissy Dzioba, Matt Meixner and LeRoy Deuster join the group for several tracks on this, Doghouse Flowers’ debut album.
