Winnipeg’s Del Barber was nominated for a Roots & Traditional JUNO in 2011 and has just released his fourth album, Prairieography. With it, he moves more into country music territory and dedicates 14 songs to his love for the three provinces of plains and shrubbery. Del has beefed up the instrumentation and presents a variety of moods: intense and relaxed, heavy and light. Lyrically, he reflects on prairie life and tells interesting stories. If there was any question previously as to Barber’s talent, this solid country album should clear things up.
