The University of South Dakota Symphony Orchestra – Observations On… (2023)
The University of South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, one of the countrys oldest university orchestras, continues to champion new music and also the repertoire written by historical and emerging composers coming from minority backgrounds. The album includes music by Costa Ricans most prominent female composer Rocio Sanz, whose repertoire has remained obscure until now. Composers Deanna Wehrspann, Andres Soto, Stephen Yarbough, and Steve Landis have written and dedicated their works to be premiered and recorded by the University of South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, an award-winning ensemble that continues to grow as one of the most prominent collegiate orchestral ensembles in the Upper Midwest.
