River City Slim & The Zydeco Hogs came together in 1998, fueled by Slim’s desire to create authentic Zydeco music in Southern New England. A tall order to be sure, but The Hogs have risen to the challenge and over the course of the last twenty years have established themselves as one of the premier Zydeco bands in the country outside of the Gulf Coast. The Hogs have been called on to back several Louisiana legends on New England stages — Willis Prudhomme, Preston Frank, Corey Ledet, Andre Thierry, Dexter Ardoin. This speaks to their ability to assimilate the Louisana Zydeco culture despite not growing up in it.

Over the years, The Hogs have recorded four CDs. This CD collects highlights from all four, showcasing the variety of Louisiana music styles The Hogs are fluent in. From their pounding original Zydeco tunes “I Just Want To Dance” and “Rockin’ The Zydeco World”, to classic Creole fiddle tunes like “Oh Mam”, to the swamp pop ballads “First You Cry” and “Un Autre Soir Ennuyant”, The Hogs bring their own distinctive energy to classic Louisiana music. Throw in a couple of waltzes and you’ve got a Zydeco Hogs dance party!
