Named after a character Hawthorn (Heather Scott and Taylor Holland) imagines as a shared ancestor, Maggie Willow is created from parts of our mothers, grandmothers, wise people before them, and ourselves. The songs are a series of moments throughout Maggie’s life, exploring such complex themes as divorce, moving, parenting, healing from trauma, preparing for birth, and facing death. All the songs are either co-written or co-arranged by Taylor and Heather, centered in the powerful two-voice blend Hawthorn has come to be known for: “when they harmonize, the edges of their voices bleed together like watercolors on paper”
