Back in 2016 Dan Patlansky became the first artist in history to be voted Blues Rock Review’s #1 album of the year twice with the release of IntroVertigo. This came after 2014’s Dear Silence Thieves also was voted #1. Since then, Patlansky has made his way from South Africa into the European market and continues to build his growing audience. With the recent success obviously expectations are high for Perfection Kills, which will be released on February 2nd and was produced by Patlansky himself.

The album begins with “Johnny,” a strong opener that definitely has Dan’s signature sound we’ve come to know. “Never Long Enough” follows, which begins with a great piano hook and features a very catchy chorus. Patlansky sings about how the times he has home with his wife are “never long enough.” This is definitely a good candidate for a radio single. Next up is “Mayday,” another one of the album’s top tracks about the problems modern day society is causing and relationships crashing as a result.

While many of the songs on Perfection Kills are very rock oriented Dan still has a place for the blues and that shows on “Judge A Man.” Dan sings about past relationships with women who didn’t feel being a musician was a real career. Most of the songs on the album come from Dan’s personal experiences such as “My Dear Boy,” another album highlight which is about Patlansky’s young son.
