On August 5th, Wild Beasts will put out a new album titled Boy King. The Domino release marks their fifth studio effort following 2014’s Present Tense. It collects 10 tracks, all recorded in Dallas, Texas with renowned producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Explosions in the Sky).

“It became apparent that that guitar almost became the character within the songs, that phallic character, the all-conquering male,” frontman Hayden Thorpe said of the LP. “I’m letting my inner Byron fully out, I thought I’d tucked him away, but he came screaming back like the Incredible Hulk.”

Apparently, his version of the Incredible Hulk’s also got a strong libido. “I think Boy King is an apocalyptic record,” he added. “It’s about swimming in the abyss. When you think about sex, you’ve got to think about death, they’re one and the same.”

Wild Beasts have given us our first taste of the Boy King with “Get My Bang”, a swaggering cut laced with Thorpe’s sleek falsetto. Check it out above via its accompanying music video, directed by Olivier Groulx.
