Founding Blue Öyster Cult bassist Joe Bouchard will release a new solo album titled The Power of Music on Friday, April 29. The record, Bouchard’s follow-up to 2014’s New Solid Black, will be available on CD and vinyl.

The Power of Music features seven new tunes and two covers, including a rendition of the Blue Öyster Cult song “Career of Evil,” which was co-written by Patti Smith and Joe’s brother and original BOC drummer Albert Bouchard.

Another noteworthy song on the album is the lead track, “Walk with the Devil,” which begins with a delicate 12-string acoustic intro and develops into a hard-driving heavy-rock anthem. Lyrically, the tune is based on the famous tale about how blues legend Robert Johnson supposedly got musical ability by selling his soul to the devil at a rural crossroads.
