LA psych outfit Mystic Braves, who look and sound like they were just teleported from 1967, will release their new album, Days of Yesteryear, on November 6. The band made the record with current Brian Jonestown Massacre guitarist Rob Campanella who has also twiddled knobs for Beachwood Sparks, Dead Meadow and others. The album is pure niche. It is perfect for the listener who wants to chill out in a room of joss sticks and do the electric kool aid test as it evokes a time gone by of peace and love and quasi-philosophical lyrics. Listen to ‘Spanish Rain’ to showcase what me mean even one of the vocalists looks like Jim Morrison.

David Bowie – Blackstar (2016)

Posted by on January 5, 2016 with No Commentsas

When David Bowie returned from exile with 2013’s ‘The Next Day’, an album that wistfully referenced his late-‘70s art-rock heyday, it felt like this eternal futurist was starting to look back. Wrong, earthlings! Released on his 69th birthday, 25th album ‘Blackstar’ spins the spaceship back around and points it at the moon. Bowie’s formidable record […]
